It is a renaissance memorial of defense and cult architecture.The church is situated in the center of the town, at the place of the old town center, surrounded with a moat and a defense rampart with 4 earth bastions at the corners.

The monastery is situated in the city Polotsk in Ephrosinya Polotskaya street, at the right bank of the river Polota. It was founded in 1120-ies by the princess Ephrosinya who became a nun, and was its Mother Superior for 45 years.

Saint-Assumption monastery is one of the most respected saint places in Belarus, Ukraine and Poland, both among Orthodox, Catholic and Uniate believers, it is the largest spiritual and theological center of Belarus.

It is a memorial of cult-defense late gothic renaissance architecture. In its plane it reminds old Russian 4-column temples –trikonkhs.

The cathedral was not only the leading temple of the Western-Slavonic Orthodoxy, but also a large cultural-educational center, a burial-vault of Polotsk princes (16 sarcophaguses were found).

The orthodox church is situated at the bank of the lake Beloye. This is a baroque architecture memorial.
